Question: Last minute gift idea for dad turning 60?

I've been really busy with work and a lot of things and I haven't bought or done anything for him. His birthday is tomorrow and I really want to get him something nice. I'm going to get him a TV, but that obviously won't come in by tomorrow. Is there anything simple you think would be nice? When I ask him he says he doesn't know what he wants.

I’ll have to suggest creanta.com They turn any image, including your favorite photograph into an amazing and affordable hand made painting. Maybe one of him and your mom, or one of you and him? I'm thinking of this as something instead of the TV? What I liked of them is that they at reeeeaally good at capturing the physical likeness. Not to mention very, very affordable. I was very impressed with the results. In addition to portrait paintings they also do paintings of pets, landscapes and anything that means something to you (like your first car, favorite vacation spot, etc). They’re the nicest people… because I was late with my friend’s gift, they even hand made a custom card to notify her that a special gift was coming her way. I highly recommend them. Best wishes!!

Why can't you go pick up the TV? If you can't, you can't, but you could give him a card and put a pic of the TV in it and let him know it's on the way. take him to dinner too.

Get him something that he might have really wanted as a kid, or make something that you would have made when you were in kindergarten or something. If all else fails, just be a smart ass and make a big deal about him turning 60. Make it into a joke!!! Have fun, but don't go too far!!

I'd give him an old-fashioned typewriter and a cake. :) Everybody loves cake.

Ask him what his favorite toy or wish for a toy was when he was a kid. If it was a little red wagon...you could buy a really little one that could sit on a desk. If it was anything else..you could try to find it. Let's see...he was born in 48? How about asking around at the antique shops for toys from around 1953. That would have made him about 5 yrs old and that would be great. Otherwise, get him a special picture of you and put it in a frame. Tell him, jokingly, that the other present is coming but you wanted to give him the best present of all...You! lol Tell him happy birthday for me, will ya?
