What are your thoughts about Child Support covering holiday gifts?
My ex posted this status on his online social media profile." Sorry sweetie, daddy couldnt get you many presents this year because half my money went to mommy. So when you see all thoes presents under the tree that say from mommy and daddy, they are actually from mommy and daddy, not the person she wants you to call daddy." Now, my husband has been in my daughter's life since she was 4 weeks old, and been in my life since we were 12 years old.My daughter knows BOTH her father AND her step father as " Daddy" . She will soon be a big sister too...I work full time making a decent living as well as going to school to finish my bachelors by this time next year so I can provide my family more. My husband worked overtime this holiday season for us to afford holiday gifts as well as items we need for the baby. We are financially responsible and put a portion of our paychecks towards savings every 2 weeks. We had to recently tap our " house" savings which was our wedding gifts & my husband's 401k cashout to pay for a lawyer due to my ex's threats. My daughter has clothes when she needs them, plenty of toys to play with, a good healthy diet, a college savings plan, and everything she needs PLUS more. The child support order mainly covers daycare expenses with little left over for anything else, meaning my income covers just as much when you add up all expenses. What do you think about this " suggestion" that child support should be counted towards HIS portion of the gifts under the tree this year oh, and the Channukah gifts she recevied a few weeks ago bc my husband is Jewish .I am soliciting opinions from unbiased sources because I always try to remain fair in my dealings with my ex. My family and friends are obviously biased in my favor, and one's own opinion is obviously biased...So what do you think? I didn't ask him to " pony up" anything for his daughter for the holidays. He didn't get her anything last year, and my daughter is only 2 and knows NOTHING about our financial dealings. I refuse to discuss any parenting issues in her presence even though she wouldn't even understand us at her age. I NEVER want to pit her against her father, but I also don't want to be a doormat. To clarify, he didn't say this to her... It was a statement made in public forum against me. Yes, he does pay support through wage garnishment. I have also encouraged him time and again to file for an adjustment if he felt the amount was unfair but he seems to prefer to complain...I don't expect him to get her gifts or expensive gifts at that and our daughter is too young to understand anyway... We weren't together through my pregnancy because I left him for cheating on me.
What are some great holiday gifts for your teen friends that are under $5?
my five best friends and I are exchanging gifts in a couple of weeks and I have no ideas. It needs to be under $5 or a little above. We are all teens so it can't be tacky dollar store gifts. I want my gifts to be better than any of there's. I need help
What are some inexpensive holiday gifts for teenage best friends?
I give my friends a Christmas holiday present every year, usually no more than $4 or $5 each. I gave nail polish last year, and I gave body spray the year before. So what are some good ideas for inexpensive presents? We're all 14 15 years old, high school freshmen. I'm thinking maybe some hand sanitizer and lotion from Bath and Body Works? Any other suggestions are welcome Thanks
Exchanging holiday gifts while engaged?
I am newly engaged and my wedding is not until 4 2 2011... which means that I have 2 christmas', 1 set of birthdays, 2 valentines, and an anniversary....So how do you handle buying gifts for special people or your fiance.. I want to give my FH and immediate families something, but we are really trying to save atleast $10,000 for the wedding. Please help.. and I understand that I don't have to buy things, but my immediate family is small, so it seems I should do something. I was thinking of framing our engagement pics and giving to parents.. sister and family not sure..
