Son was unfairly suspended from school for a gift basket, fair or not?
Recently my son s school had a Back 2 School night, where I got to meet his new teacher and classmates. I must admit my sons teacher is quite attractive, and we chatted each other up quite a bit over the course of the night. Well, at one point while we were talking she dropped her pencil, I stooped over to pick it up, and I smelt an odor that reminded me of hot garbage fermenting on a 100 degree day in California. Needless to say I was disappointed as I hoped that our conversation would lead to the opportunity of me asking her out for dinner and maybe some kind of late night rendezvous afterwards at my place. Needless to say, I didn t ask her out, but it was hard for me to ignore what I thought was good chemistry prior to the whole pencil incidentWell, the next day I still couldn t get her out of my head despite the horrific odor I experienced. So I came up with the idea, that I would send my son to school, with a gift basket for her, from me. I figured this would be good for both of us as I could slip a note in their asking her out, and my son gets brownie points as well. Well to make a long story short, my son ended up getting suspended In the gift basket was schick razors, nair, talcum powder, summers eve, vinegar, and some hotwax, along with a note from me asking her if she would like to join me for dinner at a local Italian eatery sometime. I also included a bottle of wine and 2 champagne glasses. Clearly my son doesn t drink as he is only 11 years old. I don t know if they thought the note was from him and he was hitting on his teacher or what. But I would think that most people receiving a gift basket would be appreciative of such a gesture and would never end up in suspension. Should I go ask the teacher out myself in person and try to clear up this mess so my son can get back into class?
Ideas for a gift basket from out-of-town bridesmaid?
I am a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding. I will be flying out for the wedding, buying a dress, all that good stuff. Sweet girl that she is, the bride will not give me her registry information because she didn't want me to spend any more money on being a part of the day.I am super grateful for her sensitivity Like really grateful But I do want to make a small ish gesture to her and her soon to be husband. So I guess I'm looking for some ideas.Stuff to note and my questions They love the outdoors, theater, watching movies of all kinds, books, history, and Jesus She's an English teacher, he majored in History and is currently working at a non profit I dunno if that will help discern what kind of people they are, but there you have it Their honeymoon is going to be four days they will stay in a cabin and do some swimming, hiking, zip lining, etc. They have the rest of the week after their wedding off from work, so I thought maybe some sort of gift basket for stuff to do at home might be fun. What would you put in this any movies, cards, games, etc.? I can always try to figure out a nice restaurant near where they live, etc. and give them gift cards, but I can't buy them tickets for a play or something scheduled since I don't know their day to day routines. Would giving cash a check be OK in this situation? I can't afford a whole lot at this point, but I could probably pull together $50 or so. Since she asked me not to buy them anything, should I actually listen gasp and just leave it alone?
