never been to one before, but going to my partners friends engagement party. im unsure but i thought the whole house gifts were for the wedding and not sure if you have to get something for the engagement party?anyway the couple dont drink so i cant bring a trusty bottle of wine. i was thinking maybe gold class movie vouchers?? would this be ok?lol i have no idea

Okay so we're 5 bridesmaids in all including the maid of honor myself For the engagement party, we were planning on buying a gift altogetherSo price is really not a problem, unless it exceeds 100$ per bridesmaidsmeaning budget 500$but mothers of the bride and groom want to buy a gift with us as well so the budget just never ends.ANYWAYS....what kind of gifts can we buy them?Our mother wanted to buy a very good BBQ because they have a really tiny one that barely works and they love love looove receiving and making BBQsA bridesmaid though of buying a wine cooler but i find it is a waste of space since they don't drink much wine and they probably have 3 bottles in their home max.Another bridesmaid thought of a whole new luggage set since they're leaving on a cruise and they always borrow someones luggage when they leave for vacation....They love the outdoors as well but we want the gift to be related to the weddingFor example, the ideas mentioned above, besides the luggage, don't have anything really that relate to a weddingi do get the last word on the gift because i am the sister of the bride and we are very close, i am also the maid of honor. Discovered the engagement gift was bought at a discount place...?
There was an episode of a sitcom where the bride discovered that the engagement ring was a cheap designer " knock off" purchased at a discount place. She threw the ring away. Honestly, if any of you discovered the engagement ring was a designer " knock off" made to look like a more expensive ring but purchased at a discount, would you care? Would you throw it away? That always seemed absurd to me.

What should we ask for as an engagement gift?
My fiance and I are having our engagement party in about a months time. Neither of us were expecting presents but we have had quite a few people asking what we would like We have been saying to them that we don't mind but we are living together at his parents home at the moment, so we would rather not end up with a load of home appliances or champane flutes because we don't have the space to keep them Any ideas on something we could ask for? We both like the idea of asking people chip in towards something we can keep for when we get our own house, such as a digital radio although we already have one something similar maybe? What would be a lovely, non cliche engagement gift?
I'd like to find something they won't get dozens of, preferably with a more homey feel, not mass produced junk. High quality and tasteful, that will be something lasting they can use and enjoy. I was thinking possibly a picnic set, or candle holders as the bride loves candles... But I think everyone will get them that. I was looking on easy but I need direction or inspiration. Help?

What should I get my oldest friend in the world and his fiance as a housewarming/engagement gift?
My oldest friend in the world, let's call him Nate, is currently engaged to this beautiful girl we'll call her Katrina . They're in love, and I'm so exceedingly happy for them. She is also pregnant. All of this was planned. They planned to have the baby after they got engaged. No shotgun wedding stuff. They're very happy and I'm very happy for them. I want to get them something, as they've just moved into a brand new apartment together. Now, I've known this guy for YEARS. He's my oldest and easily one of my best friends. We share a lot of memories, but for whatever reason... I can't figure out what the hell to get him and his fiance. I don't know why. I'm just hitting a mental block here. I want it to be something sweet and nice and useful, as well as heartwarming, but I also want to show my ever present sense of humor. Throughout our 15 or so year friendship, we've always been able to make each other laugh. I don't know. Can anyone help out?

I'm attending the engagement party of a girl that I work with, but I don't know her and especially her partner very well. I don't want to give them something really tacky, what do you suggest?I do want to give them an engagement gift, whether it's usually a gift giving occaision or not.. I'm just stuck as to what I should choose SOk, need to make myself clearer again... I do KNOW her, we've been working together for over two years.. What I meant is that she is fussy picky about what she likes & as I don't usually see her outside of work hours, it's hard to know what her style is.Also, I don't want your opinions on when gifts should & shouldn't be given.. Hello I heard from my cousin that my boyfriend is going to propose to me on Christmas. He already has bought the ring he doesn't know that I know yet . Should I buy him an engagement gift as well as a Christmas gift or wait to buy an engagement gift after he actually proposes to me?
